Which Local Bike and Pedestrian Projects Are Most Important?
There are currently almost $52 million worth of transit projects in Contra Costa County and only $24 million funding. Should Concord get the money? Share your thoughts.
Cities in Contra Costa County are lining up to grab some of the money available for transportation projects in the coming years. All of the projects are required to cover bicyclists and pedestrians, from improving pavements and striping bike lanes to installing street lighting and developing intermodal transit areas.
But the 21 projects total almost $52 million — more than double the $24 million available. So, which ones should get the go ahead?
The East Bay Bicycle Coalition is asking Contra Costa County residents to vote online for the top five projects in the area. Concord has three projects awaiting funding: The first would rehabilitate Concord Blvd from Port Chicago to 6th Street, and Arnold Industrial Way from Port Chicago to Pike Lane. The second project focuses Detroit Avenue from Clayton Road south to Monument Boulevard. The third includes improvements around the Concord BART area downtown. Projects include pavement rehabilitation, the installation of bike lanes and improvements to crosswalks.
