Weekend Events: Live Music, Fall Farmers' Markets, Art

Celebrate fall in Contra Costa County by checking out the things to do this weekend, Oct. 12 to 14. The weekend weather report shows that may even get to wear a scarf!

It finally feels like fall. The rain has come, leaves are falling from the trees and there is a briskness in the air. It's enough to make you feel like Mr. or Mrs. Autumn, the Duke or Duchess of fall, walking down the street with a pumpkin-spiced latte while the twigs and acorns "crunch pleasurably" beneath your shoes.

It's pumpkin time at the farmers' market and cooking season in the kitchen, with recipes to try like comforting pumpkin soupMoroccan winter stew and squash, pear, and onion gratin. There are only a few weeks left of the seasonal farmers' markets. Clayton's final market is Oct. 27, the Thursday evening markets in Concord and Martinez end Oct. 25, and Pleasant Hill's market ends Nov. 17.

As for weather, Friday will be partly cloudy with a chance of rain and highs of 68 degrees during the day and a low of 50 degrees in the evening. Saturday is expected to be partly cloudy, with a high of 77 degrees during the day and a low of 54 degrees at night. Sunday goes from partly cloudy in the morning to clear skies by the afternoon, with a high of 79 degrees. The evening is expected to be overcast, with a low of 54 degrees.
