The City of Concord is hosting a free home composting workshop on Thursday, May 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber at Civic Center, 1950 Parkside Drive.

“Composting yard trimmings and food scraps is easy, great for the yard and garden, kind to the environment and saves money and resources,” says workshop instructor Todd Sutton, aka the Waste Sleuth.

“Preventing unnecessary waste is an important goal for all of us. Did you know that more the 25 percent of what is in our garbage cans is food scraps? Composting is a great opportunity to divert this material away from the garbage can and into your soil.”

Sutton, an expert with more than 22 years in the environmental field, has appeared on national television including the Discovery and History channels, and has educated thousands on waste prevention, reuse, recycling, and composting.

The class is free but registration is required and space is limited.

To register, email Concord Senior Planner Joan Ryan at joan.ryan@cityofconcord.org or visit  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/city-of-concord-home-composting-workshop-tickets-11223231989.
