Veterans Day Event at Hillcrest Park Cancelled

The Hillcrest Park Veterans Day Program was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts. A Veterans Day Speech will take place at the Vietnam Memorial in Newhall Park.

The annual Veterans Day Program at Hillcrest Park scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 11, has been cancelled this year. Due to scheduling conflicts, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1525 and the Korean War Veterans Association Mount Diablo Chapter, among others, were not able to attend, according to an email sent for distribution by Councilmember Laura Hoffmeister.

However, there will be a Veterans Day speech at the Concord Vietnam Memorial in Newhall Park. The event, organized by the Disabled Veterans Service Association (DAV), takes place on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at the memorial located by the grove of oak trees atop the park.

DAV National Service Officer and Past State Commander LeRoy Acosta will deliver the speech, and all military veterans, families and guests are invited to attend. The names of those listed on the Concord Vietnam Memorial plaque will be recited in remembrance at the conclusion of the observance.
