Relay For Life Concord Raises Over $20,000

The walkway in Todos Santos Plaza was lined with paper lanterns Saturday night, each one glowing in memory of those lost to cancer.

A total of 23 teams comprising 164 people took part in the Relay for Life event July 13 to 14. Participants walked around the plaza for 24 hours and raised $20,185.19 for the American Cancer Society, according to the Relay for Life Concord web page.

The event began with a lap walked by cancer survivors and included a memorial ceremony on Saturday evening.

Relay for Life events take place across the country and are open to all with a registration fee of $10. Clayton's Relay for Life is Aug. 3 at the Clayton Community Park. More than $30,000 has already been raised for that event.
