Patch Pulse: Must Have Kitchen Items

Occasionally Patch likes to take the pulse of the community on things like national and international affairs and on stuff that's happening in our communities and our homes.

Recently Patch posted the following on Facebook:

I was making a dry rub this morning and started wondering what 5 things I couldn't do without in the kitchen. Here's what I came up with: A really sharp knife, corkscrew, garlic, my 10" Griswold cast Iron frying pan and salt. It was hard to choose between salt and red wine. What are your top 5 kitchen items?

Patch got a number of responses from readers.  Here are a few.

Mary Lindemuth Arulanantham  wrote, “I could skip the corkscrew (some decent screw tops out there these days) and substitute lemon and my medium sized Le Crueset Dutch oven for the skillet.”

David Singleterry opted for “Corkscrew, red wine, red wine red wine, red wine.”

Keisha Moore gave away her favorite cooking style with her list, “Garlic, wok, soy sauce, blender, skewers.”

Some readers got creative by saying they would never be without a full spice cabinet, an indoor herb garden and their favorite knife set or their favorite cookware set.
