Parade, Fireworks and Events Schedule for Fourth of July in Concord

Here's how Concord will be celebrating the Independence Day holiday.

The July 4 Jubilee in Concord is one of the city's biggest annual events, and this year will be no exception. Fourth of July events include a 5K walk and run, a firetruck pull, a parade, arts and crafts vendors selling in the plaza, a singing flag show and, of course, fireworks.

Here's your guide to Independence Day in Concord:

6:30 a.m. Pancake Breakfast
The meal is hosted by Concord Diablo Rotary Club. Breakfast will be served until 11 a.m., followed by hot dogs until 3 p.m. Tickets are $5.

7 a.m. 2013 Stars and Stripes 5K Walk and Run
Registration begins at 7 a.m. for the Concord Police Association’s annual Stars & Stripes 5K Run/Walk and the Kid’s Fun Run. Stomper, the Oakland A’s mascot, will be on hand for the kid’s run at 8:15 a.m. The adults have an 8:30 a.m. start. The run/walk benefits the Monument Crisis Center and the Concord Police Association's Community Fund that supports local charities and community programs.

10 a.m. Fourth of July Parade
The 4th of July Parade, sponsored by Tesoro Golden Eagle Refinery and Special Olympics, steps off at 10 a.m. from Mt. Diablo High School. The parade travels down Grant Street, turns right on Willow Pass Road, right on Mt. Diablo Street and left on Almond Street to finish at the Mt. Diablo High School rear parking lot.

10:15 a.m. Firetruck Pull
Concord’s 4th of July Jubilee at Todos Santos Plaza has a new addition this year. Organizers have announced a benefit Fire Truck Pull competition on Salvio Street next to Todos Santos Plaza to benefit Special Olympics. Ten person teams with lots of heart will pull sponsor Tesoro Golden Eagle Refinery’s fire truck weighing 44,000 pounds for 20 feet to claim bragging rights as the fastest and strongest team.

Arts, Crafts and Entertainment in the Plaza
The Concord 4th of July Jubilee continues until 3 p.m. with craft and antique booths around the plaza, presented by the Concord Antique Faire. Entertainment on the main stage will feature Diablo Valley College’s Rock Rhythm & Blues Revue in a showcase presentation.

9:20 p.m. Singing Flag and Fireworks
The aerial fireworks display is presented by Calvary Temple Church on July 2, 3 and 4 at Dave Brubeck Park, 4363 Concord Bl. at 9:20pm, in conjuction with the Singing Flag — a dance, song, comedy and the spoken word show presenting the gospel.
