Oakhurst Drive Receives its Proper Respect

The misspelled Oakhurst Drive sign has been replaced.

We can all breathe a sigh of relief. The misspelled street sign at Oakhurst Drive and Center Street has been fixed.

The sign was damaged by a truck back in November. It was originally replaced by a misspelled version. The company that makes signs for the city accidentally misspelled Oakhurst as Oakhearst. It was installed as a replacement until the correctly spelled sign arrived.

This time it was done correctly.

Laura Hoffmeister, assistant to the city manager, county public works was responsible for replacing the sign because it is attached to a signal light. The City of Clayton has an agreement with the county to maintain its signal lights.

Hoffsmeister was unaware the sign had been replaced. “I knew (the county) ordered a new sign but I did not know they put it up yet,” Hoffsmeister said.
