Mt. Diablo Recycling Collecting Unwanted Christmas Trees

Concord residents have two options for getting rid of the Old Tannenbaum for free.

The Mt. Diablo Recycling Center is picking up unwanted Christmas Trees along with the trash, with one caveat.

The trees must be less than five feet tall if you want them picked up along with your garbage. Mt. Diablo Recycling Spokeperson Jill Kipnis said to leave them on the curb on your regular trash pick up day and they will be taken away.

If your tree was taller than 5 feet this year, Kipnis recommended chopping it in half.

The second option for getting rid of a Christmas tree is to take it to the recycling center in Pittsburg, located at 1300 Loveridge Rd. There is no charge for recycling the tree, Kipnis said. There is a limit of one-tree per vehicle.

The Mt. Diablo Recycling center is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
