Masonic Temple Gets A Lift Next Week

The process is underway to move Concord's 85-year-old Masonic Temple from Galindo Street to Clayton Road.

The 225-ton building will be "lifted in-place" early next week, May 20 to 22, according to Chuck Gabrysiak of the Concord Historical Society. It will be placed on "dollies" May 23 and the moving process will begin.

On May 24, the temple will be moved to the center of the current block and turned 90 degrees, says Gabrysiak. The next day, starting at 6 a.m. May 25, the building will be moved in its entirety across Clayton Road and onto its new lot at 1928 Clayton Road.

"This schedule of course assumes that everything goes as we expect," said Gabrysiak, "but things might change."
