Glorious Grapes Glisten at the Farmers' Market

Grapes are this week's featured product from the Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association. Here are a few inventive recipes for the surprisingly versatile fruit. Share your own too!

Small. Round. Juicy. They make a great snack for the kids and the perfect gift for a sick relative. But is there more to grapes than their commonplace reputation?

Perhaps so, says the Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association. You might already know that there are three basic colors of grapes — light green (also called "white"), red, and blue/black — but did you know that these tart little orbs may also help ward off certain kinds of cancer?

Grapes are rich in phytonutrients and antioxixidants, and good for hearth health, according to PCFMA. There are more than 50 varieties of grape currently available at farmers' markets, and each type has its own color, taste, texture and history.

Try putting grapes in the freezer for 30 minutes for a naturally sweet snack with a supernatural texture and taste.

What else can grapes do? Well, let's not forget the pièce de résistance — wine, of course.
