Get Out Weekend Planner: Concert in The Grove is Back

If you're on a budget for Father's Day, there's still plenty to do this weekend!

Concert in the Grove: Unofficial Rolling Stones

  • Where/When: ; Saturday, 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m
  • Why Go: Go to downtown Clayton on Saturday nights for Concerts in The Grove at the Gazebo at “The Grove” Park. Saturday night, the Unofficial Rolling Stones will be playing. 
  • Price: Free

5th Annual BBQ Challenge

  • Where/When: ; Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Why Go: Martinez hosts the 5th Annual Amateur BBQ Competition, the King of the County, and music festival. There will be over 100 arts and crafts vendors, microbreweries and wineries, a kids stage, rides, activities and live music.
  • Price: Free

  • Where/When: ; Sunday, 11 a.m.
  • Why Go: Celebrate Dad and the local heroes of the fire departments at a special fire station challenge chili cook-off. Cool the fire at a beer garden, and pay tribute to the music of Steely Dan with Steely Dan tribute band and Concord favorites, Aja Vu.
  • Price: Free

Motorama ~ World of Wheels

  • Where/When:  parking lot; Sunday, 9 a.m. t0 6 p.m.
  • Why Go: If you like classic and other interesting cars, motorcycles or bicycles, downtown Lafayette is the place to be on Fathers Day. The Lamorinda Sunrise Rotary Club is presenting the second annual Motorama – World of Wheels. “This is a fun, low-key, family-friendly display of many different types of cars, motorcycles and bicycles, ones that bring smiles to the faces of both enthusiasts and the general public,” said event chair Krysten Laine.
  • Price: Free

Diablo Ballet & Walnut Creek Library Present “Ballet & Books”

  • Where/When: ; Saturday, 11 a.m. to noon.
  • Why Go: Children and parents are invited to stop by for Diablo Ballet’s “Angelina Ballerina” story time, featuring costumed dancers reading the popular children’s book. There will also be dancers in various costumes from around the world to promote the library’s “One World, Many Stories” reading program.
