Dog of the Week: Rocky

Name: Rocky

Favorite toy: It's just a hard, round rubber toy. It's pretty indestructible.

Favorite treat: Sausage loaf and carrots. He'll do anything for carrots.

Where does he sleep? He sleeps in his own bed, which is in our family room. He's not allowed on furniture.

Does he like cats? He's good with cats if they're not moving. As a sight hound, he's good with things that don't move. If they're moving, he'll chase them.

Personality? He's aloof but agreeable. He'll do anything you want him to do, but up to a point. He works well with food. He'll do just about anything for food. And he's unbelievably good with children.

Funny story: He picked up a trait when he was 2 years old. He has this big, monster dog bed that we keep in the shade in the backyard. He'll move it around the yard to wherever the shade is. One day, when we left the house it was sunny. We were rushing home, because it started to rain, and when we got home we saw that Rocky had folded the bed in half and pushed it under the overhang of the house to stay dry. I thought, "He's just about the smartest dog."
