Dog of the Week: Rocky

Name: Rocky

Age: 5 years old

Breed: Shar Pei, pointer, whippet, basset hound mix

Owner: Elaine Friedman

Favorite Toy: Squeaky rubber chicken

Favorite Treat: My husband's turkey sandwich. Rocky will sneak up next to dad during meals. He loves any type of cold cuts, really.

Where does he sleep? Either in our bed or his kennel, which is also in our bedroom. He has his choice.

Does he like cats? He probably would chase a cat. He barks and cries when we're in the car and he sees a cat. He gets along fine with the turkeys and other wildlife around here, though.

Personality? We used to hang out at Newhall Park in Concord, and everyone there called him Eddie Haskell from the TV show Leave It to Beaver. He's a wheeler-dealer, and he'll do stuff behind your back. If our other dog has a toy, Rocky will pick on him.

Funny Story: After we adopted him, we were driving home and trying to figure out what to name him. We decided he looks like a cross between Rocky the squirrel and Bullwinkle the moose from the old cartoon, The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle. We went with Rocky because Bullwinkle was way too long. But he was named before we even got out of the car.
