Dog of the Week: Elation

Name: Elation. Her nickname is "Elee."

Age: She'll be 11 months on Nov.15.

Breed: Belgian Tervuren

Owner: Jan Bombardier

Favorite toy: Squeaky toys. We found a squeaky toy in bed just this morning.

Favorite treat: Bully sticks. We give those to her instead of rawhide now.

Where does she sleep? She sleeps at the foot of my bed in a dog bed.

Does she like cats? She likes to chase them, but I don't know if I'd say she likes them. She'll chase anything that moves, because she's a herding breed. There are lots of squirrels in our yard, so she does the squirrel patrol thing.

Personality? She's what I call boingy. At this age, because she's a baby still, she's so social, very happy, a lot of fun to be around. Quirky, I'd say.

Funny story: She's more aggresive now, but when she was younger, she was a lot more submissive. And I used to take her to Newhall dog park, and she'd go on the side of the park that is for smaller dogs. One time, there were a bunch of Chihuahuas in the park and Elation got scared. She started yelping, "Yike, yike, yike!" and ran around with her tail between her legs. There were all these tiny Chihuahuas chasing her. People asked if she was okay, and I said, 'She needs to toughen up!'
