BART to Run Extra Trains, Extended Schedule for New Year's Eve

Revelers will be able to ride trains until 3 a.m. on Dec. 31.

Whether you're partying in the big city or staying closer to home New Year's Eve, BART will be helping revelers get around safely with an extended schedule and longer trains on Dec. 31.

The additional trains will run to and from San Francisco until 3 a.m., according to BART, with the intention of making room for the large crowds expected at Embarcadero and Montgomery Street for the fireworks show in downtown San Francisco.

As an additional crowd-easing measure, trains after 8 p.m. on the Pittsburg/Bay Point and Richmond lines heading into San Francisco will not stop at Embarcadero Station, so the closest stop to the fireworks will be Montgomery Street. Trains on the Dublin/Pleasanton and Fremont lines will stop at Embarcadero Station but not at Montgomery Street, and trains from Millbrae and Daly City will make all stops in San Francisco.

Following the firework show, passengers boarding trains bound for Pittsburg/Bay Point and Richmond will need to use Montgomery Street Station, BART advises, as the trains will not stop at Embarcadero Station on their way out of San Francisco. Passengers boarding trains on the Dublin/ Pleasanton and Fremont lines must use Embarcadero Station, as there will be no stop at Montgomery Street. Millbrae and Daly City-bound trains will make all stops, but BART recommends passengers on those lines use Montgomery Street Station.

BART has planned additional event trains to carry riders home during the busiest time when the fireworks end.
