Obie, the formerly obese Doxie, is coming to the Bay Area!

On Wednesday, 11/27 at 6pm, the last stop on his U.S. RV trip.  I'm looking for a place for them to park their RV that night and a place where his followers and admirers can meet him.  Lazy Dog Cafe maybe?  I understand today was their grand opening AND that they are dog friendly!  What more could we ask for.  However, since I don't know the manager and haven't contacted them yet, any suggestions are welcome.

In case you haven't heard of Obie, here's his story:

Obie is a standard Dachshund who was rescued as an extremely obese dog at 77 pounds which is almost three times his ideal weight.  He was the product of misguided love and over feeding that was not recognized as an issue until it was almost too late.

It took almost a year for him to lose the weight safely and was compounded by skin infections and subsequent skin reconstruction surgery.  Obie is a testament that prevention is far easier than a cure.

Obie is a fighter and his unique personality has inspired people from all over the world.  He is bringing awareness to obesity, rescuing, and spay & neuter campaigns.  He is a natural around people and has proven to be an effective ambassador.

Check out his Facebook page by typing Obie Dog Journey in the Facebook search field. He also has his own website, http://www.obiedog.com/  which contains lots of information about the tour, his journey, FAQs, etc.

Obie has become quite famous during his weight loss journey and has been featured on Headline News, ABC News, Fox News plus several other news programs as far away as Australia and New Zealand (see the "In the News" link on his website).  This is a great outreach project to educate and spread awareness on obesity prevention and I'm hoping you will be interested in helping me locate a venue for the overnight stay and meeting AND that you'll come by to meet Obie and his family.

I look forward to hearing from you!
