Concord police had a man in custody an hour after he evaded them on a foot chase near the Olivera Crossing in North Concord.

The approximately 5-foot-6, 190-pound Hispanic man, apparently wanted for probation violation, was arrested in what appears to be a stranger's apartment on Welch Court around 2:15 p.m, after police set up a wide search perimeter in the area.

"He kept banging on my door and asking me to come in," said an 18-year-old who lives adjacent to the apartment where police found the unidentified man. "He kept saying he didn't want to be bit by the dog. I pushed him out."

Concord Police have been contacted for more information regarding the initial contact with the officer and information about the arrest.

We'll update the story as soon as we hear from police.
